Gabriel Rivano is a bandoneonist and composer from Argentina. He inherited his bandoneon from his grandfather, Adolfo Perez Pocholo, who played with legendary names such as Firpo, Canaro and Gardel. Since 1981 he has performed in several countries in South America and Europe, as well as in Japan and Canada, with among other Cuarteto Cedr¢n, Rodolfo Mederos, Hermeto Pascoal, Orquesta t¡pica de Roberto Pansera and his own tango sextet. From 1987 he has also presented his own compositions on several prestigious stages. In 1997 his concerto for bandoneon, guitar and orchestra was performed in Buenos Aires.
Gabriel Rivano has also participated in several different films and has recorded CD's all over the world. He has also been awarded a prize for his own CD Tradici¢n. From 1999 he has been arranger and first bandoneon of the tango company Tango, Vals y Tango of Ana Mar¡a Stekelman. Since 2001 he is making frequent tours to Europe with bandoneon solo concerts.
He was awarded with the 1st prize in the international competition organized by Secretaría de Cultura de la Nación Argentina with his Concierto para Bandoneón y Orquesta |
